About us

Spectrasyne was formed by a management buyout from the oil giant British Petroleum. Whilst working for BP Research, two of the current Spectrasyne directors undertook a DTI/Industry collaborative research and development programme.

This programme, which was started in 1979, covered the development of a unique remote single-ended, atmospheric monitoring system using a technique known as Differential Absorption Lidar (DIAL).

In 1991 the DIAL team were given a BP Chairman's Award for services to health, safety and Environment.

In May 1992 a management buyout agreement for the technology and hardware was completed between BP and the four DIAL team members. Spectrasyne has now been providing independent mobile atmospheric monitoring services for over 14 years.

The company benefits from the directors' combined 80+ years experience in the oil industry and environmental monitoring fields and from their combined 50+ years experience in DIAL.

Since the company was formed, Spectrasyne have developed a unique reputation for undertaking reliable, professional surveys and producing full documentation within just a few weeks of completing the survey.
